The Crumbles

This is cartoon #40 for The Crumbles! Very exciting. (Only 39 are on this blog, I self-censored one.) The exercise of creating the characters and the cartoons has been very rewarding for me, not to mention a lot of fun. I am going to take a breather from the Crumbles and figure out where to go from here with my cartooning.

Not spending money at Target requires incredible — nay, superhuman — discipline.

Too many people are in love with their gadgets and technology.

Sadly, this strip is based on real life. Yes, I loved the first season of Meerkat Manor (I Netflixed it). The rivalries and antics of the Whiskers clan were very engrossing. I’m not sure where the producers can take the show from here. The life of a meerkat is pretty simple. Eat, survive and reproduce.

A relative got me Lego Star Wars II as a gift, and I quickly became a video game junkie. I had to give the game away to a friend. The intoxicating mix of Legos and Star Wars — two of my favorite childhood pasttimes — made it hard to stop gaming.

I’m hoping “I’m just here for the wi-fi” becomes a national catchphrase. It tells people that you don’t enjoy their company, but you do enjoy mooching off their unprotected wi-fi system. So many people today have that attitude.

 Married people who aren’t homeowners are regarded suspiciously in today’s culture. The whole “building equity” seems a bit false … do taxes and renovations help you build equity? You’re lucky if you break even. When you rent, if something breaks the landlord comes and fixes it. And I don’t have to do dumb chores like mow the lawn, which is awesome and gives me time to indulge my cartooning hobby.

The state I live in actually repealed its helmet law for motorcyclists. How dumb is that?

It’s sad that people don’t know when to put down their gadgets and enjoy life.
